Chapter 5, Mass Extinction
A thin veil of blood separated the pit from the outside, creating two independent spaces. At this moment, heavy rain poured down, drenching everything, and the surroundings were shrouded in darkness. The numerous deep pits on the ground had transformed into a network of muddy puddles, and countless bodies of Pangu were washed out of the waterlogged pits by the rising rainwater, piling up into a sea of corpses on the muddy ground
Kong San's heart trembled violently; even through the veil of blood, he could still sense the intensity and heat of the fiery glow. The opponent was indeed no ordinary Pangu. Just the might emanating from this single punch would likely be difficult for Kong San, even in his prime, to withstand
The Dragon Ball, like the Bone Dragon, is a legendary entity. While ordinary Tyrannosaurus rex are rarely seen, today Kong San encountered an overwhelming number of legendary items. Compared to the giant axe of Pangu and the dragon egg of the Tyrannosaurus King, this Dragon Ball has become rather unremarkable to Kong San.
To serve the Tyrannosaurus King and safeguard the hope of the Tyrannosaurus clan is a great honor for any Tyrannosaurus. Perhaps in the near future, within the ancestral dragon language passed down through generations of the Tyrannosaurus tribe, a term called "Kong San" will emerge
A profound sense of mission and honor arose spontaneously in Kong San's heart
After the loud noise, Kong San was astonished to find that the thin blood-colored barrier had not only withstood the opponent's punch without being breached, but it remained intact even under the immense pressure of the opponent's attack, showing not even a ripple of disturbance.
The other party also seemed astonished by the solidity of the blood curtain; aside from the Pangu who had just thrown a punch and was now rubbing his numb fist, the rest of the Pangu were staring intently at the light curtain, as if deep in thought.
The Pangu departed, unwilling to accompany Kong San to the grave within the light screen. Their departure was exceptionally resolute, and the manner in which they left once again opened Kong San's eyes. These Pangu actually leaped into the air and charged towards the sky, vanishing like lightning amidst the storm.
At this moment, a prolonged process of extinction unfolded, and the vast earth fell into a deep silence, marking the end of an era in the history of life.
The torrential rain beyond the light curtain grew increasingly intense, repeatedly washing over the earth. The hurricane, unwilling to remain silent, howled in, joining the ranks of the assault. The lush, towering trees surrounding the open space snapped with a crack in the storm, their thick trunks crashing to the drenched ground, sending up splashes of water.
With the command of the Tyrannosaurus King, Kong San no longer hesitated. The blood-red tongue extended and curled, swallowing the Dragon Ball into his belly. The Tyrannosaurus always consumed its food by gulping it down without chewing, so when a relatively small Dragon Ball went down, Kong San truly did not taste anything.
The other party did not give up. After deep contemplation, the Pangu beings chose to act together. In an instant, flames and water shadows surged outside the light curtain, with blue radiance and lightning flashing violently. Streams of energy, each a different color and crisscrossing in all directions, almost dazzled Kong San within the light curtain. It was certain that even a single stream of this energy, if it were to enter, would be enough to kill it several times over.
What startled Kong San was that amidst this sea of corpses, several towering figures resembling Pangu were struggling to rise, trudging through the heavy rain with uneven steps towards his direction. Their movements were extremely uncoordinated, slipping almost every two steps on the muddy ground, yet they would quickly get back up, stumbling towards the deep pit where Kong San was located, as if something was drawing them in.
The ravaged earth has finally risen in rebellion, without any warning, surges of molten lava erupted from the depths, shooting towards the sky amidst the raging winds and torrential rains, transforming into a thick haze that lingered for a long time. The earth's counterattack was so powerful and grand that even the Pangu, who were violently assaulting the blood-red light curtain, unconsciously ceased their attacks and stared blankly into the distance.
Kong San's experience is merely a point in this global catastrophe. In reality, after the collision between the Pangu King and the Tyrannosaurus King with the books in the sky, they did not fall to the ground but instead crashed directly into the distant sea, creating a massive deep pit on the seabed. The seawater was rapidly vaporized, and steam shot into the sky, triggering a colossal tsunami that spread at an astonishing speed, sweeping away everything along the coastal land. Subsequently, the anomalies in the ocean and the battle between the Pangu King and the Tyrannosaurus King beneath the ground caused intense tectonic movements. The once-connected continents shattered, countless volcanoes erupted in competition, generating a vast cloud of dust. The deep pit on the seabed caused the seawater to be rapidly vaporized, and steam shot into the sky, triggering a colossal tsunami that spread at an astonishing speed, sweeping away everything along the coastal land. Following this, the anomalies in the ocean and the battle between the Pangu King and the Tyrannosaurus King beneath the ground caused intense tectonic movements. The once-connected continents shattered, countless volcanoes erupted in competition, producing a vast cloud of dust, polar ice and snow melted, leading to a sudden drop in temperature, torrential rains, mountain floods, mudslides, and lava buried a large number of organisms and vegetation
This is merely the beginning
As time passed, Kong San's confidence in the blood-red light curtain grew stronger, while the Pangu outside felt the opposite. Faced with this impenetrable barrier, their confidence was nearly worn away. Although they stubbornly continued to attack, they were still unable to breach the curtain, merely stirring up fleeting ripples that quickly dissipated.
Boom
Before Kong Sanqing could rejoice at having escaped a calamity within the light curtain, three surges of intense heat suddenly erupted from its chest and abdomen, rushing through its veins straight to its brain, causing an excruciating headache and making its body sway precariously. At that moment, a torrent of magma surged in from all directions, plunging its vision into endless darkness
Kong San extended his slender forepaw to gently support the dragon egg, carefully placing it in the center of the blood pool, fearing that it might drift to the edge and be shattered by the hard rocks. Although Kong San knew that the tyrannosaurus egg was not so easily broken, he could not take that risk
Pangu swung his fist, and a blazing flame surged towards Kong San
The extraordinary dynamic vision allowed Kong San to see the Pangu clearly, even through the light curtain and torrential rain
Kong San stealthily extended his front paw towards the blood-stained surface, counting the figures in the rain as he gazed at m.hetushu.com. ... One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four ... He counted the four front toes three times before he understood the number of his opponent, a total of twelve Pangu, each one significantly more robust than three large beards. Their faces and bodies were covered in strange patterns, and three of the Pangu had two serpentine creatures hanging from their ears. Additionally, one slightly shorter and thinner Pangu had the most peculiar appearance; its chest was much larger than that of the other Pangu, swaying as if laden with fat, leaving Kong San dazzled.
Kong San remained still, yet the Pangu beings moved first. Through the thin veil of blood, they detected Kong San's presence. One Pangu suddenly swung its massive fist, and a brilliant flame appeared above its fist. Despite the torrential rain, the flame on the Pangu's fist was not extinguished; instead, it burned even more fiercely.
Accompanied by a dull roar, the distant Holy Mountain of the Tyrannosaurus tribe abruptly shattered, and magma gushed forth, as if in response to the Holy Mountain. The earth appeared to be cut with countless wounds, and torrents of "hot blood" erupted, converging into searing streams that flowed down from the surrounding peaks, surging and rushing towards this lowest-lying open area from all directions
Indeed, these Pangu targets were aimed at Kong San. Before long, they appeared swaying in front of Kong San, and their movements had become much more coordinated compared to the clumsiness they exhibited when they first got up.
In the countless days and nights that followed, the sky remained filled with swirling dust and smoke, shrouded in dark clouds. The world entered a state of low temperature due to the perpetual absence of sunlight. With the sudden change in climate, a large number of plants became extinct, followed closely by the extinction of herbivorous dinosaurs that fed on these plants. The extinction of plants and herbivorous dinosaurs led to a lack of food for carnivorous dinosaurs and omnivorous creatures. Except for a very few resilient individuals, the vast majority gradually moved towards extinction.
These three drops of milky liquid are of unknown origin. They have been floating in the blood pool alongside the remnants of the Dragon Ball for such a long time, yet they remain untainted by a single drop of blood. Pure and transparent, they emit a fragrant mist. This scent is quite peculiar; just a gentle sniff by Kong San brings a refreshing clarity to his mind and invigorates his spirit, even alleviating much of the pain in his body.
The imagined fist pierced through the throat, but the pain of flames burning the internal organs did not manifest. Kong San stood there with his mouth agape, his mouth still intact and unharmed. The opponent's fist did not strike him; instead, it collided with the blood-red barrier, producing a thunderous sound.
Not satisfied! Kong San, who had not eaten for a day and a night, was exceptionally hungry. A small Dragon Ball could not possibly satisfy its appetite. Kong San extended its blood-red tongue and licked its palate, still yearning for more. After surveying the empty blood surface with its scarlet eyes, it lowered its head in disappointment
Kong San's gaze lingered reluctantly on the dragon egg before he straightened his body, raised his head, and looked towards the outside of the pit. Although this deep pit was shrouded in a blood-red light curtain, the curtain was not thick, only a thin layer, allowing Kong San to vaguely discern the situation outside the pit
Where the magma flowed, the rocks turned to sand and ash, charred charcoal replaced the green forests, black magma covered the delicate wildflowers, and the billowing volcanic ash filled the entire sky, presenting a scene reminiscent of the apocalypse
Although the Pangu beings vary in form, they share a common characteristic: they are covered in the bloodstains of King Pangu, which have not been washed away even in such heavy rain, as if they are solidified upon them
In the face of these powers that completely transcend previous understanding, Kong San wisely chose to remain a bystander. Whether he lives or dies is no longer within his control; the decision lies with the Pangu and the blood-red light curtain. Kong San, who is fond of books, greatly dislikes this feeling—the feeling of life and death being beyond his control—which once again ignited his desire for power.
Kong San concentrated his mind and calmed his breath, his entire body’s muscles and bones stretching and relaxing. He did not take the initiative to attack, for his greatest mission was not to kill these resurrected Pangu, but to protect the dragon egg. Even though he harbored a strong desire to attack, he did not dare to leave the dragon egg even for a moment
With just a glance, Kong San instinctively retracted his head, his entire body sinking into the blood-soaked water, leaving only half of his head and a pair of oval-shaped large eyes pressed against the edge of the deep pit, anxiously observing the few damp, burly figures outside the blood-soaked grave.
Kong San is, after all, a proud and arrogant Tyrannosaurus rex. Even though it is aware that it cannot withstand a single blow from its opponent, it does not choose to flee. Instead, it lets out a desperate roar and opens its massive jaws to meet the opponent's fist. Even in death, it seeks to die with dignity; this is the nature of the Tyrannosaurus.
While moving the dragon egg, Kong San discovered that the bottom of the egg was surprisingly stuck to a large lotus seed, which was covered in thick strands of blood. With a swipe of his dragon claw, Kong San knocked the lotus seed into the blood pool, then used his soft tongue to lick the dragon egg until it shone brightly. Only then did he turn his gaze toward the relatively inconspicuous dragon pearl.
As the Tyrannosaurus King stated, this is indeed a broken Dragon Ball. Although it is equally crystal clear, radiant, and shimmering with a scorching red glow, the prominent crack at the bottom significantly diminishes its luster. Moreover, when Kong San lifted this Dragon Ball with his front claws, he discovered that the interior of the Dragon Ball was actually hollow, with only three drops of milky transparent liquid remaining on the inner wall, leaving it empty otherwise
On the blood-stained surface, there was nothing besides the colorful dragon egg that could alleviate hunger. Although the dragon egg was fragrant and made Kong San's mouth water, it was the hope of the Tyrannosaurus clan. Kong San would rather starve to death than touch it.
